Adding Pictures

Pictures / Video clips and PDFs can be dealt with in two ways. Those that we have uploaded and hosted and those that are hosted by someone else that we wish to use, with relevant permissions of course.

I shall deal first with adding our own pictures. Again, there are a number of ways to do this, the most complicated way is to upload a picture using a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) program to a destination of our choosing and to then use the URL of that location to embed into text on here. Its a brilliant way to do it, but takes a fair bit of playing with to master it, so would suggest to leave that one for now and go with the basic program that can now be found on here.

By now, you should know how to type / modify and add text on here – that is good. If you look at the top of this viewing pane you should see a blue box that says ADD MEDIA.

Click on the box and you will be presented with an option to either upload your own file or to select one that has already been uploaded into your Media Library – this can be useful if you are using the same picture in multiple locations on the website as saves having to upload one each time. Once you have either uploaded or selected your own file, you can insert it into the page by clicking on the button bottom right.

Give the photo a title if you wish

Once you have in image on your page, you can click on it, stretch it, resize it, add text borders around it and do many things. Rather than explain any more, I would suggest that you have a play creating a new page of your own,

Change how the text wraps around a picture

add a few pictures into it, and you can see your results by using the preview facility – you can amend it as many times as you like and when happy, then you can publish it should you so wish. You can add images to any page on the site.

Have a Play and see what you can do – where the cursor lies when you hit ADD MEDIA is where the picture will go

Once you have got the hang of this, I will then show how to use other peoples pictures without having to upload them. Handy for linking to images on things like Facebook.

If you use the PREVIEW button at the top right of this page you will see how it appears.

The more visually appealing way to do this, is rather than showing a very long URL is to sow the “Title” of the ling instead, and if you now use the same “Insert Into Page” button at the bottom of the Media Library menu

The easier way to do this now though is to use the link bottom right of that menu box that says “Insert Into Page
